Robert H. “Bob” McCarty, age 87 years of West Union, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on May 10, 1934, the son of the late Otis and Rosa (Shiveley) McCarty in Lynx, Ohio. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alta B. McCarty.
Bob was a Tiffin Township Trustee for 30 plus years, West Union Village councilman, West Union Street Commissioner, a member of the West Union Fire Department, and a member of the Mt. Armenia Church.
Survivors include two daughters Sharon Ashley of West Union, Ohio and Rosemary Vogler and Jake, also of West Union, Ohio; one son Jeff McCarty and Mary of Bentonville, Ohio; brother Ray McCarty of Lynx, Ohio; and sister Frances Grooms of Lynx, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 21, 2022 at 1 p.m. at the Thompson-Meeker Funeral Home in West Union. Burial will follow in the East Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. the day of the service.
