The Georgetown Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal hit-skip crash involving a pedestrian. The crash occurred sometime earlier this morning, October 24, on state Route 125 near mile marker 16 in Jefferson Township, Brown County.

The preliminary investigation revealed an unresponsive pedestrian, identified as Caleb Holbert, 22, Russellville, was located partially in the roadway on state Route 125. It was determined Holbert was a pedestrian that was struck by an unidentified vehicle. The vehicle left the scene of the crash. A Ford vehicle part was located on scene, and the suspect vehicle may be of that make.

Holbert succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.

The roadway is currently closed during the crash investigation. The Ohio Department of Transportation is on scene with detours currently in place.

The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Brown County Coroner’s Office, Russellville Fire Department & EMS, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
