Joyce Ann Thatcher, 87 years of age, of Peebles, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025 at the Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley Inpatient Center in Seaman, Ohio.

Joyce was born on December 16, 1937, in Adams County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Glendon and Marjorie (Butts) Nichols. She worked as a cook for the Adams County School District until her retirement. Joyce took great pride in caring for her family and her home, especially loving and spoiling her grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting and solving puzzles. She was a member of the Peebles Church of Christ.

Joyce is survived by her sons, Roger (Robin) Thatcher of Seaman and George Thatcher, Jr. of Peebles; and her daughters, Pam (Jerry) Crum of Sinking Sprin; and Debbie Clift of Winchester; as well as her daughters-in-law, Tammy Thatcher of Winchester and Sue Thatche, of Peebles. Joyce will be missed by her ten grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, George Thatcher, to whom she was married on November 29, 1954, and who passed away on June 17, 1995; her sons, Keith Thatcher and Jede Thatcher; her brother, Jerry Nichols; and her sisters, Glenda Johnson and Ellen Jean Bradley.

Family and friends may pay their respects during visitation on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 12 – 2 p.m. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held following the visitation, beginning at 2 p.m., also at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles, Ohio. Dave Hopkins will officiate the service. The burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Peebles.
