Pumpkins on porches, in fields, and in library displays remind you that autumn has arrived. With the season comes a bounty of learning, laughter, and creativity at your Adams County Public Libraries. Autumn is ripe for discovery, and your library is ready to help you and your children unearth opportunities that spark imagination and growth. Whether you are eager to hone artistic skills, delight in the joy of reading, or uncover the magic of storytelling, the library is a place where possibilities are always waiting to be revealed.

Storytime is one of the most meaningful experiences you can share with your child. When you bring your little one to Storytime, you are offering more than stories and songs, you are helping prepare them for kindergarten and beyond. Early literacy skills grow naturally as children listen, sing, and join in activities that strengthen language and comprehension. Storytime also nurtures important social skills, teaching children how to share, listen, and engage in a group setting. These skills create a foundation for a smooth transition into school. You can check out Storytime at the North Adams Library every Tuesday at 11 a.m., at the Peebles Library every Wednesday at 11 a.m., at the West Union Library every Thursday at 11 a.m., and at the Manchester Library every Wednesday at 11 a.m. and Thursday at 5 p.m. By attending regularly, you and your child can discover the lasting impact of reading together.

Of course, Storytime is just the beginning of what your library offers this fall. If your child is between the ages of six and eleven, afternoons at the Peebles Library provide a perfect chance to explore creativity. Every Wednesday at 2:30 p.m., children can enjoy crafts and activities, from puzzles to DIY makerspace projects and more.

If you are searching for a seasonal event, you will not want to miss Halloween Slime at the Peebles Library on Thursday, October 9, from 3 to 5 p.m. Kids and families can make their own slime! Choose between green Zombie Slime or purple Witch’s Brew Slime. Create, play, and learn the chemistry behind this spooky goop.

Teens, you can get into the fall spirit, too. Join us at the North Adams Library on Thursday, October 9, at 2:30 p.m. for cookie decorating. Use icing, toppings, and fall-themed designs to make your sweet creations, and enjoy the best part, eating them.

Whether you dive into the wonder of Storytime, cultivate imagination at craft sessions, or enjoy a hands-on activity like cookie decorating, the library offers a harvest of opportunities this season. Crisp autumn days are the perfect time to discover new stories and experiences that will enrich your family’s life. For more information, contact the
