On Nov. 30, Scott Amen, former Superintendent of the Adams County Board of Developmental Disabilities, was recognized at the Ohio Association of County Boards Annual Conference when he received the Distinguished Service Award representing Small Counties in Ohio.
Liz Lafferty, newly hired Superintendent for Adams County Board of DD felt it was appropriate to nominate Scott for this award as he has dedicated 40 years of his career in Special Education serving individuals with disabilities and was instrumental in implementing the Self-Advocacy program in Adams County as well as starting a bell choir.
Scott officially retired in June and is enjoying his retirement with his wife of 44 years, Cyndi Amen.
This award is given each year to one individual that represents a small, medium, and a large county board.
