Here, the Culinary Arts Class at CTC presents their monetary gift to Jean Hughes, one of the school’s cooks.

The FCCLA/Culinary Arts program at the Ohio Valley Career and Technical Center recently sponsored a Cancer Awareness Drive for staff and students.
The students sold baked goods, stickers, pens, and ribbons to raise money. Rather than sending the money away to an organization, the students wanted to make their efforts count here at home as a personal gesture.
They wanted to donate the money to an individual in their own school who was battling cancer.  They found out that Jean Hughes, one of their school cooks, was fighting cancer and decided to use the money from their efforts to help with her expenses.
Mrs. Becky Foster, Culinary Arts teacher, stated, “An important part of FCCLA is giving back to your community and making your classmates aware of causes like this.”
Their gesture definitely shows how students can work to improve things and fight for important causes right here at home.
