The 134th Adams County Fair officially opened its gates on Sunday, July 6, welcoming the community back to a week of summer tradition, competition, and celebration. The fairgrounds were quiet early in the day, as the first visitors trickled in to find their favorite food vendors, stroll along the midway, and look over the livestock barns where exhibitors prepared their animals for the shows to come.
Opening ceremonies were held at 1 p.m., with a small but dedicated audience gathered near the center ring to watch the crowning of the 2025 Fair Queen and hear remarks from organizers and local officials. While attendance was modest at the start, the fairgrounds began to fill steadily as the afternoon unfolded. By mid-afternoon, the crowd had increased significantly. Families arrived in groups, young exhibitors guided their animals to the show arena, and clusters of fairgoers made their way to the bleachers for the first major competitions of the week.
Fair Board President Jason Hesler said he expected the turnout to continue growing as more events got underway and the weather stayed favorable. “As long as the weather holds out for us, we have a lot of events planned here for in the center ring and a lot down at the derby track in the complex,” Hesler said. “I look for the attendance to just keep growing and growing.”
