Adams County authorities have charged a West Union man with multiple felonies, including involuntary manslaughter, after the death of a two year-old girl whose body was found in an apartment earlier this month. According to a press release from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the Timber Ridge Apartment Complex at approximately 9:08 a.m. on July 1, 2025, following a 911 call reporting that a young child was unresponsive.

Emergency personnel from the West Union Fire and EMS Department responded alongside sheriff’s deputies. Despite attempts to resuscitate the child, she was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Adams County Coroner’s Office was contacted, and the child’s body was transported to Montgomery County for an autopsy. Authorities have since determined the preliminary cause of death to be suffocation.

Deputies also discovered the deceased child’s two siblings inside the apartment—a five year-old girl and a one year-old girl—both of whom, investigators say, showed visible injuries on their bodies. The surviving children were removed from the residence and placed in the custody of child protective services.
