Lucille Jacqueline (Jackie) Brown, age 77 years, passed away on Monday, Oct. 14, 2019 at the Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley Inpatient Center. “Jackie”, as she liked being called, was born on Nov. 11, 1941, the daughter of the late William Morrison and Ethel Rosette (Steward) Morrison McCarty in Monroe Township. Besides her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by a sister Shirley Myers, and two brothers, Virgil Morrison and Robert McCarty.

Survivors include her loving husband Thomas (Tommy) Brown Jr. of West Union, Ohio; two sons, Ricky and Kelly Brown both of West Union, Ohio; one daughter Pamela Brown and Kenneth Swearingen of West Union, Ohio; five grandchildren, Summer Burton and Adam, Todd Brown, Kelli Knechtley, Kyle Brown and Elijah Blythe; and five great-grandchildren; four sisters, JoAnn Stricklett of West Union, Ohio, Marjorie Scott of Manchester, Ohio, Shelva Waldren of Pee Wee Valley, Ky., and Joyce Fields of Manchester, Ohio; sister-in-law Kathleen Morrison of Manchester, Ohio; as well as many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Jackie was what they call a “Jack of all Trades”, she was a faithful wife and a loving mother and grandmother. She was a trusted confidant to her many nieces and nephew as well as to her church family. She was a loyal and faithful servant to the Lord. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading, gardening, and sitting out on her porch with her husband Tom, just watching the cars go by.

Jackie was a trusted and loyal worker not only in her faith in God, but also within the community. In her early years she babysat many of her nieces and nephews, some of whom were almost the same age as her. After her marriage to Tommy, they became as she said “A Union of One” Jackie was always by Tommy’s side at the many churches that Tom ministered to through the years.

In their early years of marriage, Jackie worked at the Knife Factory in Seaman, Ohio, then spent many years raising her children on the farm outside of Seaman, Ohio. Tom always said “She was the best hay baler and tobacco hand that he ever had.” Jackie went on to work for the Copeland Corporation in West Union for five years. She would eventually retire from the Ohio Valley Local School District after 23 years of service.
