Discover a week filled with creativity, learning, and hands-on fun at the Adams County Public Library as we welcome the beginning of July! Each branch is offering exciting programs and activities designed to spark imagination and bring families together. We will have stop motion animation workshops, colorful crafting events, and interactive Storytimes.

Please note that all library locations will be closed on Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. While no programs will be held that day, you can still explore the SEO Libraries app to browse our catalog, check upcoming events, reserve meeting spaces, and manage your library account. For reading on the go, the Libby app offers free access to e-books, audiobooks, magazines, and more.

The week kicks off with Box-Themed Storytime at the North Adams Library on Tuesday, July 1 at 11 a.m. This engaging event, perfect for ages 0 to 5, features stories, songs, movement, and a hands-on craft. Then, on Wednesday, July 2 from 2 to 4 p.m., children ages 6 to 11 can return to the North Adams Library to create a colorful mini city using cardboard, paint, and plenty of imagination.

On Wednesday, July 2, head to the Peebles Library for Building Community with Art Storytime at 11 a.m. Enjoy music, parachute games, collaborative mural-making, and a reading of “Off the Wall” by Theodore Taylor III. From 1 to 3 p.m., all ages are invited to the Stop Motion Animation Workshop at Peebles, where participants can use LEGOs or Play-Doh to create a one-minute animated short and view it on the big screen.

The Manchester Library will celebrate Independence Day with Storytime offered twice: Wednesday, July 2, at 11 a.m. and again on Thursday, July 3, at 5 p.m. Children can enjoy a festive thumbprint craft and a reading of “Corduroy’s 4th of July” by Don Freeman. On Thursday afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m., kids ages 6 to 11 can explore color and creativity with Watercolor Resist Art, using simple materials to reveal hidden designs. Stop by from 3 to 6 p.m., little ones can drop in for Playtime in the Library, an open-ended exploration featuring sensory play and social learning.

At the West Union Library on Thursday, July 3, children ages 0 to 5 are invited to Colors Storytime at 11 a.m., which includes music, color experiments, and a reading of “The Mixed-Up Chameleon” by Eric Carle. Later that day at 3 p.m., children ages 6 to 11 can attend Crafternoon to create bold and messy smash art. Wrap up your week with a splash at the West Union Library on Friday, July 5, from 12 to 3 p.m., with outdoor creativity!
