The Georgetown Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash. The crash occurred this morning, August 29, at approximately 6:40 a.m., on state Route 32 near mile post 13 in Washington Township, Brown County.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2006 Chevrolet Impala, operated by Robert Carr, 46, Manchester, and a 1996 Freightliner Conventional tractor-trailer combination, operated by John Neace, 75, Jamestown, were traveling northwest on state Route 32. The Chevrolet was traveling behind the Freightliner in the northbound left lane of travel. The Chevrolet failed to leave assured clear distance ahead and struck the rear of the Freightliner’s trailer. The Chevrolet traveled partially under the trailer when striking it.

Carr was entrapped, and had to be extricated from the Chevrolet. He was transported by air ambulance to UC Medical Center with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. Carr’s passenger, Lawrence Allen, 57, Manchester, succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. Neace was transported by ground ambulance to Mercy Health – Mount Orab Medical Center with minor injuries.

The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Eastern Joint Fire and EMS District, Ohio Department of Transportation, Zach’s Towing & Recovery, and Danbury Towing.

The crash remains under investigation by the Georgetown Post.
