Coming off a 9-15 season in 2023, the West Union Lady Dragons varsity volleyball program has been busy this summer preparing for the upcoming fall campaign, again under the guidance of Coach Kiersten Rowe, who will be entering the third season at the helm.
Part of that preseason preparation came earlier this month as the Lady Dragons hosted camp for their high school and junior high athletes. The camp was led by former WUHS and Shawnee State head coach Susan Shelton, along with Coach Rowe.
The junior high players who attended the camp included: Brooke Taylor, Baylee Taylor, Makayla Parker, Baileigh Demint, Payton Grooms, Jada Hanson, Makayla Fegan, Sawyer Hayslip, Sophia Hall, Emma Seitz, Ella Seitz, Makenna Taylor, Eden Seitz, Preslee Liddell, Hallee Cox, Cheyenne Flaugher, and Allison Fooce. The junior high squads will be coached by Melinda Taylor and Melissa Hall.
High school girls on hand for the camp included: Kale Garrison, Ashlah Staten, Lily Randolph, Paige Tolle, Violet Randolph, Ashlynn Johnson, Emma Grooms, Lila Adams, Gracie Phillips. Annabelle Buschelman, Shelbi Weakley, Emmy Stapleton, Lauren Ellis, Jocelyn Hall, Maddie Stout Harlee Hayslip and Piper Stapleton.
The varsity Lady Dragons will be in action on August 9 at North Adams High School as part of the Southern Hills Athletic Conference Preview. The preview schedule has not been released as of press time.
