Girl Scout Troop 9305 presented a “How Long Until It’s Gone” shadow box to the county BMV. The shadow box is shared to help inform the public how long it takes common items to decompose.

The girls have been working really hard this past year on their Silver Award Project, addressing an issue that matters to them, Water Run-Off Pollution. This project matters because the runoff in our communities lead to the streams and rivers of several unique and rare animal habitats, for example, the declining Hellbenders. They want their animals to have healthy and clean water.

Water is the most important resource. Everything and everyone needs water. The waterways are full of litter and should continue to be addressed not just locally, but globally. The Troop held an education event on reducing waste, reusing items, different types of recycling and the effects of water runoff.

The Troop also met with the West Union Village Council and had them join an “Adopt a Block” program. if you would like to gather a group of volunteers, contact the West Union Village Council, they have blocks ready for adoption.
