The Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a four-vehicle crash involving one fatality. The crash occurred on August 23, at 08:49 p.m. on state Route 138 near mile post 8 in Hamer Township, Highland County. The preliminary investigation revealed a 1973 Plymouth Duster, operated by Daniel Vance, 37, Sardinia, and a 2019 Ford Ranger, operated by Levi Holden, 20, Mount Orab, were traveling southwest on state Route 138. A 2004 Dodge Dakota, operated by a 17-
year-old male juvenile, and a 2008 Chevrolet Colorado, also operated by a 17-year-old male juvenile, were traveling northeast on state Route 138. The Plymouth traveled left of center and struck the Dodge and Chevrolet. The Ford then struck the Dodge.
Vance was pronounced deceased at the scene. Holden and one of the juvenile drivers were treated for minor injuries. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Highland County Sheriff’s Office, Paint Creek Fire Department, Lynchburg Fire Department, Highland County Coroner’s Office, and T&G Towing. The crash remains under investigation by the Wilmington Post.
