Readers, crafters and families will have plenty of opportunities to connect and create at Adams County Public Library locations throughout the end of August.
The Peebles Library Book Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday, August 24, to discuss “The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store” by James McBride. The book club provides an opportunity for adults to share their thoughts about the monthly selection, discover new books and enjoy conversation with fellow readers.
The North Adams Library will host its Novels and Nibbles Book Club at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, August 27. The group will discuss “A Borrowing of Bones” by Paula Munier. The program is open to adults ages 19 and older. Beverages and book-themed snacks will be provided, creating a relaxed setting for readers to discuss the book and exchange recommendations.
Furthermore, on Thursday, August 27, the West Union Library will host its book club at 5:30 p.m. Participants will discuss “Redemption,” an inspirational Christian romance novel by Karen Kingsbury. The gathering offers readers a chance to enjoy lively conversation while sharing their thoughts about the selection.
Those looking for a hands-on activity can join Booked and Hooked at the West Union Library. The crochet group meets at 5 p.m. every Wednesday. The group is open to crocheters of all experience levels, including those who have never used a crochet hook. Participants can bring a current project, exchange ideas, learn new techniques and meet others in a welcoming and relaxed space.
Children also have several opportunities to get creative. The Peebles Library will host its weekly makerspace activities at 2:30 p.m., on Wednesdays for children ages 6-11. The program features DIY crafts, puzzles and other activities designed to encourage creativity and hands-on learning.
At the North Adams Library, children can participate in an after-school crafting program featuring air clay creations at 3 p.m., on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Teens can explore their creativity at the Peebles Library at 2:30 p.m., on Thursday, August 27, during a duct tape and resin craft program. Participants can use duct tape to create items, such as pencil cases, wallets or small purses. Resin can be used to make jewelry and key chains, too.
The North Adams Library will offer an after-school Lego Play program for teens at 2:30 p.m., on Thursday, August 27.
Adults looking for a relaxed and creative outlet can attend the Adult Coloring Club at 2:30 p.m. Friday, August 28 at the Manchester Library. The program offers participants an opportunity to recharge and enjoy a peaceful afternoon of coloring.
The August schedule offers activities for readers and creators of all ages. Participants can take advantage of the variety of programs available throughout the county, including book discussions, crochet, crafts, Lego play, and coloring.
