The Adams County Public Library is inviting children, teens, families, and adults to celebrate the back-to-school season at the library by taking part in a variety of programs and activities throughout August. Participants can enjoy weekly Storytimes, creative activities, gaming, movies, and a crochet group.
Preschoolers and their caregivers can participate in weekly Storytime programs at all four Adams County Public Library locations. Storytime at the North Adams Library is held each Tuesday at 11 a.m. Manchester and Peebles Libraries host Storytime each Wednesday at 11 a.m. The West Union Library offers Storytime each Thursday at 5 p.m., while Manchester Library also hosts an evening Storytime each Thursday at 5 p.m. These programs provide young children with an opportunity to enjoy books, songs, activities, and time together while building early literacy skills, preparing them for kindergarten and beyond.
School-aged children can join the Smorgasbord Makerspace program at the Peebles Library each Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. Children can explore their creativity at our makerspace station, try new projects, and hang out with other young patrons.
The Manchester Library will host Crafternoon each Thursday at 2:30 p.m. The program gives children a chance to get inspired through crafts and other engaging activities. Crafternoon is an enjoyable program for young patrons to spend part of their afternoon while developing their creativity and trying something new.
Teens are invited to the North Adams Library for Teen Time on Thursday, Aug. 20, at 2:30 p.m. for an afternoon of color and gaming activities. The program will provide teens with an opportunity to relax, have fun, and spend time with friends at the library.
Families can also enjoy a Movie Afternoon at the Peebles Library on Thursday, Aug. 20, at 3 p.m. The all-ages program will feature an animated film, with popcorn and drinks provided for attendees. In addition to enjoying the movie, participants can decorate their own paper shield, an interactive project inspired by the film.
Adults and older teens looking to learn or practice crochet can attend Booked and Hooked at the West Union Library each Wednesday at 5 p.m. The program welcomes experienced crocheters, those who are just learning the basics, and even those who have never picked up a crochet hook before. Participants are encouraged to bring a current project, share ideas, make new friends, or simply learn something new in a welcoming and relaxed environment.
The Adams County Public Library encourages community members to take advantage of these programs and discover all that their local library has to offer this back-to-school season.
