Ohio Treasurer Robert Sprague visited the Adams County Board of Developmental Disabilities and Precinct Café last week to see the café in action and congratulate Liz Lafferty on her recent retirement from the Board. Treasurer Sprague presented Lafferty with a proclamation honoring her hard work and leadership in the community over the last 30+ years as superintendent of the Adams County Board of DD.
“Liz Lafferty and the Adams County Board of Devlopmental Disabilities have always been great partners of our STABLE Account program, which empowers people with disabilities here and across the state,” said Sprague. “It’s inspiring to see the Precinct Café in action providing inclusive job opportunities for these individuals here in Adams County.”
Operated by The Adams County Association for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities, Precinct Café shares a building with the County Board of DD and provides job opportunities for people with disabilities. The Ohio Treasurer’s office is home to STABLE Account, which offers specialized savings and investment accounts for people with disabilities and qualified medical conditions.
STABLE allows these individuals and their families to save and invest money without losing eligibility for certain means-tested benefits, such as Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
