The Chillicothe VA Medical Center is proud to announce the 18th Annual Veterans Appreciation Celebration, scheduled for Saturday, July 25 at the historic Memorial Stadium on the Chillicothe VA campus, 17273 State Route 104.
This annual event has a packed agenda, kicking off with a 5K at 10 a.m. followed by a Resource Fair, Food Trucks, Kids Games, Historical Tours, Home-Run Derby and ending the night with a Paints Game and Firework Show.
The Veterans Appreciation Celebration is the largest event of the year for our VA and provides a space for Veterans and their families to create memories, enjoy some entertainment, and be honored by the Chillicothe VA and the community.
Activity Schedule:
10 a.m.:
Veterans Appreciation 5k – Starting at 10 a.m., the route stretches across 300-plus acres of the historic Chillicothe VA campus. The start point will be marked by a blue tent in the Memorial Stadium parking lot.
Historical Tours – Visit our Mace House, a one-of-its-kind museum, located by the golf course, just inside the north entrance. Open from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
12 p.m.:
Food Trucks – New and returning local food trucks will be filling the air with mouthwatering smells to include Sour Pig, Burrito Buggy, Up n Smoke and Amish Homemade Ice Cream.
Resource Fair – Located in the gymnasium, over 30 local and VA organizations will be on site to provide tailored resources and information for Veterans.
Home Run Derby – Show off your skills and register for our first home run derby! Spaces are limited, so register today for your chance to win custom Paints merchandise.
Kids Activities – Fun filled games and bounce houses for kids of all ages.
2 p.m.:
Registration opens – Collect your tickets to the game, food vouchers, and your free Veteran shirt in the Memorial Stadium parking lot.
5:35 p.m.:
Stadium access and food service begins.
6:30 p.m.:
Pregame Activities – Our executive team takes the mound as we honor a Veteran with the Neil Miller Appreciation Flag.
7:05 p.m.:
Veterans Appreciation Baseball Game – The Chillicothe Paints take on the Lafayette Aviators. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. followed by post-game fireworks.
