Despite the sweltering temperatures that plagued the area last week, the pomp and pageantry of America’s 250th birthday were on full display on the street of West Union on the morning of July 4. The West Union Lions Club again sponsored their Fourth of July Parade and hundred of residents filled the streets of West Union to celebrate “America 250”.
This year’s parade featured a little bit of everything. There were hundreds of people of all ages braving the heat to march in the parade, joined by numerous floats, animals, classic cars, vintage tractors, motorcycles, politicians, emergency vehicles and as always, the much-anticipated float and patriotic theme from White Farms. Youngsters lining the parade route were also excited to grab up the candy thrown out by many of the parade participants.
