July is going to be a busy month for many of us, so please note the following information:
Happy Independence Day! In observance of the holiday, our office will be closed on Friday, July 3.
Our monthly Walk “N” Talk at Adams Lake State Park will be held on Tuesday, July 7 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Please meet at the Welcome Center. David Jewett and Jacob Fletcher from Adams County Library will be the hosts of this walk. You will learn about the programs being held at our local libraries, for example, ask David about checking out bicycles from the libraries. Jacob is the Digital Literacy Specialist and can assist you with your electronic devices.
Every Thursday we have a fun group that come to the Senior Center to play various types of card games. Beginning about 11:30 a.m. this group just pops in to enjoy some laughter and socialization. There is no cost to join.
Week of July 12 – 18, the Adams County Fair will be in full swing and our agency will be closed to the public. Our Homecare and Transportation services will still remain in operation. Please note, the card playing day on Thursday, July 16 will be cancelled.
Senior Citizens Day at the Fair will be held on Tuesday, July 14. Seniors get free admission into the Fair as well as the event held in the Administration Building. For most of the week, we will be inside the Merchant Hall. Stop by and visit us.
The Adams County Senior Citizens Council, Inc. Board meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 22 at 10:30 a.m.
Free Lunch and Game Day at the Senior Center will be moved to Thursday, July 23, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
We are very excited to invite everyone to the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for our Pickleball Court on Friday, July 24 at 11 a.m. The “Pickle Patch” will be free and open to all ages in the community from dawn to dusk. We are so thankful from the private donations and funding from Creating Healthy Communities and the Adams County Health & Wellness Coalition, that this vision has become a reality.
There have been several people already enjoying the court but the final touches are getting completed, like benches, a picnic table, a swing and a drinking fountain/water bottle refilling station. We hope you can join us!
Did you know that our Senior Center is available for use by all those who are aged 60 years and up. The room can be used for activities, meetings, presentations, small event, etc. For information on current upcoming activities, please see the monthly newsletter calendar on our Facebook page.
