Melvin “Dean” Bissinger, 91 years of age of Hillsboro, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at the Ohio Veterans Home, in Georgetown, Ohio.

Dean was born on February 21, 1934 in the Tranquility Community of Adams County, Ohio, the son of the late Glen and Sylvia (Hayslip) Bissinger. After serving in the United States Army during the Korean conflict, Dean worked as a machinist for more than twenty years at the National Cash Register company. Dean attended the St. Mary Catholic Church in Hillsboro, Ohio.

Dean is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rita (Herceg) Bissinger, whom he married on August 2, 1958; his son, Brad (Michelle) Bissinger of Marysville; and his daughter, Peggy (Richard) Neal of Evendale. Dean will be deeply missed by his three grandchildren, Megan (Denny) Carlier, Kyle (Emily) Bissinger and Garrett (Kaelynn) Bissinger, and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Bissinger.

Family and friends may pay their respects during visitation on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Lewis-Sullivan Chapel of the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Homes in Seaman, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held following the visitation, on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, beginning at 1 p.m., also at the Lewis-Sullivan Chapel of the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Homes,in Seaman, Ohio. Rev. Terry Washburn will officiate the service. Dean’s burial will follow in the Cherry Fork Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Dean’s name to the Ohio Veterans Home, 2003 Veterans Blvd., Georgetown, Ohio 45121, St. Jude Children’s Research, the Shriners Children’s Hospital, or the Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro, Ohio.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Lewis-Sullivan Chapel of the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Homes.
