The girls and boys soccer seasons at Peebles High School are in full swing, with each squad having three contests under their belts. The Peebles girls, coached again by Kierra Wagner, stand at 1-2, while Coach Stone Crothers’ boys squad stands at 2-1.
On August 18, the Lady Indians hosted Lynchburg for their season opener and dropped a 3-1 decision to the Lady Mustangs, with the only Peebles goal coming from senior Aiva Brumley. The combination in goal of senior Hylae Shield and freshman Brooklyn Staggs combined to make 11 saves.
Two nights later, the Lady Indians picked up their first win of 2025, hosting the Piketon Red Streaks and pounding out a big 6-0 victory. The victorious Peebles girls got two goals each from Brumley, junior Kyndal Alonso and sophomore Kendall Myers. Shields and Staggs combined between the pipes for the clean sheet with six saves.
On Saturday, August 23, the Lady Indians were back on their home pitch for the third time, this time falling to Greenfield McLain by a final count of 5-2.
Coach Crother’s squad opened their season on August 18, losing a tough 2-0 decision to perennial conference power Lynchburg. In goal for the Tribe, freshman Holden Crum was stellar, allowing just the two goals while picking up seven saves.
The first win for the Peebles boys came on August 23, when they handled Greenfield McLain a 5-2 defeat. The big offensive day for the Indians included single goals from junior Connor Gross, senior Grady Myers, senior Paxton Ryan, senior Colyn Sims and senior Wyatt Smart. In goal, Crum was solid again with eight saves.
Peebles improved their record to 2-1 on Monday, August 25 with a 5-0 home win over the West Union Dragons. The win over West Union was a big night for Gross who tallied the three-goal hat trick with Sims adding the other two goals. Crum and sophomore Jack Fitzgerald combined in goal for the shutout, combining for nine saves.
The Peebles boys will be in Southern Hills Athletic Conference on August 27 , hosting Whiteoak, while both teams will be in conference action on September 3 when they host Eastern Brown.
