Vivian “Vivie” Hazel Turner ,79, of St. Paris, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, in her residence.
She was born on August 16, 1945 in Peebles, Ohio, the daughter of the late Oscar Clayton Monroe and Lina Abanade Cadwallader.
Vivian was a 1963 graduate of Peebles High School. She married the love of her life, Edmond “Gene” Eugene Turner, on May 24, 1969 at North Side Church of God. Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in faith, love, and family. Vivian worked as an inspector at Q3 Industries in Urbana where she later retired after many years of service. Her kind spirit and gentle presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is now joyfully reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband Gene and their daughter, Jeannie, finally at peace together as a family.
Vivian is survived by her loving brothers, Ralph Monroe of Urbana and Kenneth “Skip” Monroe of Locust Grove; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews who cherished her.
Vivian was preceded in death by her husband and daughter; brothers, Marcus Monroe, James Robert Monroe, Charles Edward Monroe, Hartzell Monroe, Harry Monroe, Ira Monroe and Junior Monroe; and sisters Myrtle Brewer, Anna Mae Cohn, Louise Gaffin, Thelma Davis, Deloris Maitheny and Bessie Cohn.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. – noon on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, in Atkins, Shively & Vernon Funeral Home, St Paris, Ohio.
Funeral service will follow at noon in the funeral home with Pastor Jeremy Spence officiating.
Private burial will be held at a later date in the Evergreen Cemetery in St. Paris.
