David Joseph Grant, age 45, of Peebles, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, early Thursday morning, July 3, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on March 15, 1980, in Cincinnati, Ohio, David was the son of Steve Grant and Theresa Mae (Edwards) Seibert. For the past 11 years, he worked as a dedicated heavy equipment operator at Dansons Wood Pellets in Peebles.

David was a true outdoorsman who found joy in nature—taking night walks, shooting, fishing, and squirrel hunting. From a young age, he was involved in the Boy Scouts of America, proudly earning the rank of Life Scout. One of his favorite scouting activities was rappelling, something he remembered fondly throughout his life.

David also enjoyed collecting baseball cards, a hobby he began as a boy and continued passionately into adulthood—amassing thousands of cards over the years. He was a man of many interests and talents. He loved playing his guitar, listening to classic rock and Nirvana, racing RC cars, building model cars, and working on his prized 1977 Datsun 280Z. He also enjoyed playing video games and relaxing at home.

At the heart of his home life was his love for cooking. David was known as the grill master of the family—whether it was burgers, ribs, or something new he was trying out, he loved gathering his family around the grill and sharing a good meal.

Above all, David was a devoted husband and father. His greatest joy in life was his family, and the love he shared with them was deep and unwavering. He will be remembered for his strength, kind heart, easygoing nature, and the way he brought warmth and laughter wherever he went. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

David is survived by his wife, Sara Ann Grant; his daughter, Brooke LeeAnn Grant; mother, Theresa Mae (Van) Seibert; father, Steve Grant; brothers, Ian (Heather Cohorn) Grant and Sean Grant; mother and father-in-law, Kris (Randy) Phipps; father-in-law, Mark Moehlman; sister-in-law, Ryan (Paul Gaines) Moehlman; nieces and nephews, Jade Grant, Heath Grant, Axl Grant, and William Lehmann; aunt, Cheryl Edwards; uncles, Lee Edwards and Bemis Edwards; maternal grandmother, Chris Bishop and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 3 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday July 9, 2025, at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Time for sharing memories and stories of David will begin at 7 p.m., following visitation.

Burial will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family.
