It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Herbert Sowards, who left this earth on September 19, 2024.
Born on September 7, 1931, in Pikeville, Kentucky, son of the late George and Gracie (Little) Sowards, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Julia (Green) Sowards.
Herbert attended the Sinking Spring Community Church and throughout his life touched the lives of many with his kindness, wisdom and unwavering perseverance. His presence brought warmth and comfort to those fortunate enough to know him and his memory will forever be cherished by all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.
Herbert is survived by his three children; son, Buddy (Diana) Sowards of Peebles, Ohio and daughters Bonnie Sowards of Peebles, Ohio and Shirley (Mike) Thompson of Peebles, Ohio; five grandchildren, Shay, Cortnee, MaCade, Zach and Katelyn; six great grandchildren, Sylvia, Sawyer, Naomi, Max, Layla and Emmett; brothers Claude, Clyde, Guy and Tilden, all of Peebles, Ohio; sister, Louise Hilterbran of Greenfield, Ohio; as well as several nieces, nephews and a host of special friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 23, 2024 at the Sinking Spring Community Church.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service, Monday, September, 23, 2024, also at the Sinking Spring Community Church.
Burial will follow in the Washburn Cemetery.
In his final journey, may Herbert find peace and tranquility, knowing he was loved and will be dearly missed. May his memory be a source of comfort and solace to all who mourn his passing. Rest in peace, Herbert Sowards.
