Storytime is a bushel of fun! In this a-peel-ing program, preschoolers and families gather to listen to engaging stories read aloud by a Library Programmer. Kids develop a love for reading and discover the magic of learning through fun and interactive activities, like singing, rhyming, crafting, and games. Storytime is a fantastic opportunity for children to socialize, learn, and have a great time in a supportive and educational space. Each week, our lessons revolve around the Alphabet and enjoyable themes, such as Constitution Day, Cookies, and Autumn.
Constitution Day Storytime will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17 at the North Adams Library. We will sing “The Preamble,” create a constitution scroll, and listen to “Constitution Day” by Maeve Griffin. Cookie Storytime will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18 at the Peebles Library. We will learn about the letter Cc, count chocolate chip cookies, sing “Who Took the Cookie?” create a paper plate chocolate chip cookie craft, and listen to “The Duckling Gets a Cookie” by Mo Willems.
We will have three Autumn Storytimes coming up. At 11 a.m., on Wednesday, September 18 and 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 19 at the Manchester Library, we will sing “Ten Little Leaves,” create an autumn handprint tree, and listen to “Mouse’s First Fall” by Lauren Thompson. At 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 19 at the West Union Library, we will sing “Autumn Leaves Are Falling Down,” explore autumn through sensory play, and listen to “Hello Autumn” by Kenard Park. Furthermore, to continue the educational experience at home, each week, participants will receive Enrichment Kits, including book recommendations and activities centered around phonics, counting, motor skills, life skills and art.
