Attending Storytime with your children can be beneficial in many ways. The program provides a terrific opportunity for your children to develop a love for books and reading from an early age. Storytime can help improve your children’s listening and language skills, and introduce them to new words and ideas, all the while fostering social interactions with other children and teaching them important skills like sitting still, following directions, and taking turns. Plus, Storytime is a fun and engaging activity for both you and your children to enjoy together, and each week, your children will learn a new letter from the Alphabet and explore new topics, including Bees, Bats, Birds, and Canoes.

Bee Storytime will be at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, September 10, at the North Adams Library. We will sing “Baby Bumblebee,” create a Bumblebee egg carton craft, play a letter b matching game, and listen to “Benny Bee” by Delsa K. Dislers. Bat Storytime will be at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, September 11, at the Peebles Library. We will sing “Five Little Bats,” create a flying bat craft, and listen to “Amara and the Bats” by Emma Reynolds.

Birds Storytime will be at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, September 11, and at 5 p.m., on Thursday, September 12, at the Manchester Library. We will sing “Little Bird,” create a birdhouse, and listen to “Good Night Owl” by Greg Pizzoli. In addition, Canoe Storytime will be at 11 a.m., on Thursday, September 12, at the West Union Library. We will sing “Row, Row, Row Your Boat,” explore canoes through sensory play, and listen to “One Dog Canoe” by Mary Casanova. At each Storytime, participants will receive Enrichment Kits, including book recommendations and activities centered around phonics, counting, motor skills, life skills, and art.

Check out our after-school programs at each library for children aged 6 – 11 and show off your creative side at Crafternoon! In the upcoming programs, we will be getting ready for autumn. We will create a tissue paper fall tree at 2:30 p.m., on Thursday, September 12, at the Manchester Library, and make scarecrows at 3:30 p.m., on Thursday, September 12, at the West Union Library.
