People’s Defender
To be painfully honest, the past couple of seasons have not gone well for football in the Southern Ohio Independent League. Some parts of the conference have been plagued with discipline issues, lack of depth on the rosters which led to injuries and games being cancelled or not completed, very lopsided scores, and other issues which have made the completion of a football season difficult.
The varsity program at North Adams has been particularly plagued as in 2023 they were not able to field a squad at the varsity level, which threw the SOIL schedule into a bit of disarray, but through the hard work of some dedicated volunteers, the Green Hornets (note the name change) are coming back together, making some changes, hoping to reverse last season’s result and accentuate the positives. Numerous fundraisers have been held to assist the program financially to get back on its feet.
