On Monday, July 1, 2024 at 9 a.m., Bradley Rickett, age 22, was sentenced pursuant to a voluntary plea of guilty to Assault with a finding that the Victim is a Peace Officer, a felony of the fourth degree, in violation of ORC 2903.13A. Bradley Rickett was sentenced to three (3) years of Community Control with eighteen (18) months suspended in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitations and Corrections. Rickett is required to write a letter of apology to the victim, complete 200 hours of community service, attend 2 AA/NA meetings per week for two years, and obtain and maintain employment of no less than 32 hours per week. It is further ordered that Rickett shall not consume any alcohol for the duration of his supervision, pay a fine of $750, and serve one consecutive week of incarceration in the Adams County Jail.
On Monday, July 1, 2024 at 3:30 p.m., Patrick Hall, age 33, was sentenced pursuant to a voluntary plea of guilty to Failure to Appear on a Felony Charge, a felony of the fourth degree, in violation of ORC 2937.99A. Patrick Hall was sentenced to fifteen (15) months in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitations and Corrections.
On Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 11 a.m., Jennifer Tackett, age 38, was sentenced pursuant to a voluntary plea of guilty to Theft, a felony of the fifth degree, in violation of ORC 2913.02A1. Jennifer Tackett was sentenced to three (3) years of Community Control with one (1) year suspended in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitations and Corrections. Tackett is to complete 200 hours of community service, attend 2 AA/NA meetings per week for two years, obtain valid driving privileges by November 2024, and obtain and maintain employment of no less than 32 hours per week. Tackett has the special condition that she attend all of her minor children’s parent-teacher conferences as well as Back to School Night and take her children to the library at least once per week. Further, Tackett will pay restitution to the victim of $1,135.78.
On Friday, July 5, 2024 at 9 a.m., Tasha Chamblin, age 38, was sentenced pursuant to voluntary pleas of guilty on two separate cases to four counts of Breaking and Entering, felonies of the fifth degree, in violation of ORC 2911.13A.Tasha Chamblin was sentenced to three (3) years of Community Control with four (4) years suspended in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitations and Corrections. Chamblin is ordered to attend and successfully complete the STAR Community Based Correctional Facility. Chamblin is required to obtain vocational certificates while attending STAR. Further conditions of her supervision are as follows: 300 hours of community service, pay a fine of $1000, and attend two AA/NA meetings per week for 24 months.
On Friday, July 5, 2024 at 2 p.m., Michael Huffman, age 22, was sentenced pursuant to a voluntary plea of guilty to two counts of Violating a Protection Order, felonies of the fifth degree, in violation of ORC 2919.27A1. Michael Huffman was sentenced to three hundred and sixty (360) days of time served in the Adams County Jail.
On Monday, July 15 2024, at 9 a.m., the matter of the State of Ohio vs. Jeffrey Erwin Howard, age 35, came before the Adams County Court of Common Pleas for Jury Trial. On Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 12:27 p.m., the members of the Jury found the defendant, Jeffrey Erwin Howard, Not Guilty of Attempted Rape, in violation of ORC 2923.02A and Not Guilty of Gross Sexual Imposition in violation of ORC 2907.05A1.
On Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 11 a.m., Glenn Hamilton, age 34, was sentenced pursuant to a voluntary plea of guilty to Breaking and Entering, a felony of the fifth degree in violation of ORC 2911.13A and the Aggravated Possession of Drugs, a felony of the fifth degree, in violation of ORC 2925.11A. Glenn Hamilton was sentenced to three (3) years of Community Control with two (2) years suspended in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitations and Corrections. Hamilton is required to successfully complete the STAR Community Based Correctional Facility and obtain a vocational certificate while attending. In addition Hamilton will complete 200 hours of community service, pay a fine of $500, obtain vailid driving privileges, attend two AA/NA meetings per week, and shall obtain and maintain employment of no less than 32 hours per week.
On Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 9 a.m., Shawn Hanshaw, age 33, was sentenced pursuant to a voluntary plea of guilty to the Violation of a Protection Order, a felony of the fifth degree, in violation of ORC 2919.27A. Shawn Hanshaw was sentenced to a stipulated community control sanction of three (3) years of supervision with one (1) year suspended in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitations and Corrections. Hanshaw will have 150 hours of community service, a fine of $500, attend at least two AA/NA meetings per week for two years, attain a GED in 24 months, obtain valid driving privileges by November 2024, and obtain and maintain employment of no less than 32 hours per week.
On Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 10 a.m., Jason Nehus, age 40, was sentenced pursuant to a voluntary admission on a probation revocation with the underlying charge of Grand Theft, a felony of the third degree, in violation of ORC 2913.02A1 and a voluntary plea of guilty to Failure to Appear on a Felony Charge, a felony of the fourth degree, in violation of ORC 2937.99A. Jason Nehus was sentenced to five (5) Years of Community Control with three (3) years suspended on one case and an additional eighteen (18) Months suspended on the second case for a total of fifty four (54) months in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitations and Corrections. Further sanctions of his community control are as follows: Compete Judge Spencer’s 210 Program, obtain and maintain 30 hours per week minimum employment, obtain valid driving privileges on or before April 1, 2026, attend two AA/NA meetings per week for 36 months following release from the 210 Program, complete 270 hours of community service, and pay a fine of $2,500.
On Friday, July 26, 2024 at 9 a.m., Sharon Allen, age 46, was sentenced pursuant to a voluntary plea of guilty to the Illegal Use of Food Stamps, a felony of the third degree, in violation of ORC 2913.46B1. Sharon Allen was sentenced to five (5) years of Community Control with two (2) years suspended in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitations and Corrections. Allen is required to pay restitution in the amount of $17,226 with a $5,000 down payment and a following payment plan until paid in full. Allen is required to compete 60 hours of community service. It is further ordered that the defendant Sharon Allen is prohibited from receiving food stamp benefits for one year in accordance with Ohio Administrative Code 5101-6-20-01. Lastly, Allen will serve a total incarceration of sixty (60) days in the Adams County Jail.
On Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 10 a.m., Robert Shelton, age 40, was sentenced pursuant to a finding of guilt at Jury Trial of two counts of Domestic Violence, misdemeanors of the first degree, in violation of ORC 2919.25A. Robert Shelton was sentenced to one hundred and twenty one days (121) days of incarceration in the Adams County Jail. Robert Shelton was found not guilty of two counts of Kidnapping, felonies of the first degree, in violation of ORC 2905.01B2 and two counts of Abduction, felonies of the third degree, in violation of ORC 2905.02A2 by a jury of his peers.
