Two bikes are available at each library, including Peebles, Seaman, West Union and Manchester Helmets are available for checkout, as well. For more information about this collection, go to our website, hover over “At the Library,” click “Beyond Books,” and click “Bike Lending.” So, what are you waiting for? Parents of young children, do you need an engaging and enriching activity for your children that supports their love of learning? Come to Storytime. Our talented Library Programmers facilitate educational programs, enhancing imagination, creativity, cognition and communication skills. Moreover, libraries offer a structured and playful environment, which promotes early literacy development. Storytime also provides an opportunity for parents and children to bond over stories and reading and serves as a great way to introduce children to the library and its resources. We offer Storytime at each library weekly, and each event is centered around the ABCs and specific themes, including Alligators, Bridges, and Apples.

Alligator Storytime will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3 at the North Adams Library. We will sing “The Alligator is My Friend,” create an alligator paper craft, play Hungry Alligators, and listen to “Egad Alligator” by Harriet Ziefert. Bridge Storytime will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 5 at the West Union Library. We will sing “London Bridge is Falling Down,” create a toothpick and marshmallow bridge craft, and listen to “Cross a Bridge” by Ryan Ann Hunter.

We will have two Apple Storytimes coming up. At 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4 at the Peebles Library, we will sing “Way Up High in the Apple Tree,” create an apple and finger painting, and listen to “Amelia Bedelia’s First Apple Pie” by Herman Parish. In addition, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4 and at 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 5 at the Manchester Library, we will sing “Ten Little Apples,” create an apple weaving project, and listen to “Tucker’s Apple-Dandy Day” by Susan Winget. Each week, you will receive an Enrichment Kit to take home. Enrichment Kits include book recommendations and activities centered around phonics, counting, motor skills, life skills, and art.
