A season of expected growing pains is underway for first-year had coach Aaliyah Smith and the Manchester Lady Greyhounds varsity volleyball squad as the Lady Hounds had dropped their first two decisions at press time. The combination of a first-year coach and a team with little varsity experience will take awhile to overcome but Coach Smith is confident that her team is headed in the right direction.
After falling on the road at Piketon in their August 20 season opener, the Lady Hounds returned home two nights later to host the Ripley Lady Jays in their first Southern Hills Athletic Conference outing of 2024. Both teams were looking for their first win and it was to be the Lady Jays who captured that flag, downing their hosts in straight sets, 25-18, 25-23, 25-13.
