Gladys Kathryn Henize, age 95 years, of Naples, Florida, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Kathryn was born on September 12, 1928, near West Union, Ohio, the daughter of the late Raymond and Edith Mae (McNeilan) Shupert. In her early years, Kathryn was a Sunday School teacher at the Seaman United Methodist Church. She was a dairy farmer for many years and loved her life on the farm.
In addition to her parents, Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Henize, whom she married on October 17, 1946 and who died on August 28, 2005. Kathryn was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Richard Shoemaker; her sister, Lorena Shupert; and five brothers, Denver, Donald, Carl, Ferryl and Loraine Shupert.
Kathryn is survived by her daughters, Peggy (Jim) Schear and Patricia Shoemaker, all of Naples, Florida; a grandson, Chad (Carly) Israel; and great-grandchildren, Tallin and Desmond Israel, all of Roswell, Georgia.
Family and friends may pay their respects during visitation on Sunday, September 1, 2024, from 2 – 3 p.m. at the Lewis-Sullivan Chapel in Seaman, Ohio. Following the visitation, funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. with Gene Toole officiating.
A private burial at the Locust Grove Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
