People’s Defender

Year number three for Coach Kiersten Rowe as the head coach of the West Union Lady Dragons high school volleyball squad began on Friday, August 16 as Rowe and the Lady Dragons played host to the Felicity Lady Cardinals in a season-opening non-conference match up. Because of bleacher construction in the high school gymnasium, the match was moved to the friendly confines of the West Union Elementary gym, where there was plenty of room for fans and what turned out to be an exciting night of volleyball action.

From the outset of Friday’s match, it looked as though the two teams were pretty evenly matched and the play on the court certainly reflected that. Spectators got their money’s worth as the match went the distance, the entire five sets, before the Lady Dragons prevailed 25-20, 19-25, 25-13, 23-25, 15-9.
