People’s Defender

The 2024 girls soccer season kicked off for the Peebles Lady Indians on Friday, August 16 as the Lady Indians hosted the Southeastern Lady Panthers in a non-conference match-up. The Peebles squad was playing a bit shorthanded, that being the absence of head coach Kierra Stone, who had a pretty legitimate reason for not being on hand- she was on her honeymoon. So the coaching chores for the day were passed to boys head coach Stone Crothers, who made a successful debut as a girls coach, getting the three-goal hat trick from junior Aiva Brunley on their way to a 4-1 triumph.

The opening minutes on the pitch Friday were uneventful. most of the action taking place on the Peebles offensive end, but with a minimal number of shots on goal by either side. The first goal of the night came from the Southeastern side at the 24:30 mark of the first half but that would be the last time the Lady Panthers got anything past Peebles keeper Hylae Shields.
