If you are looking for an educational and engaging activity for your little ones, look no further than the Adams County Public Library. Our skillful programmers mindfully design Storytime to prepare children for kindergarten. Learning through play is at the heart of our program, and you can learn different techniques and activities to help your child build vocabulary, learn to count, and cultivate motor skills. You will also explore a variety of engaging topics, including the United States National Parks, Dinosaurs, Sail Boats, and Beaches.

Adventure in America Storytime will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, at the North Adams Library. We will sing classic children’s songs, create crafts, play games, learn about the National Parks, and listen to stories. Dinosaurs Storytime will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31 and at 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 1 at the Manchester Library. We will sing “Five Little Dinosaurs,” create dinosaur puppets, and listen to Dinosaur Bones by Bob Barner.

Sailing Storytime will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31 at the Peebles Library. We will learn letter sounds and stretch during “Phonercise,” create a sponge sailboat toy, explore buoyancy during sensory play, and listen to Ocean Meets Sky by Terry Fan. Moreover, Beach Day Storytime will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 1 at the West Union Library. We will sing classic children’s songs, create a paper plate beach ball, explore through sensory play, and listen to Duck’s Vacation by Gilad Soffer.

Check out our wonderful family programs. Join us at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 2 at the North Adams Library to create vases by decorating mason jars with dried flowers, or come to our Movie Afternoon event at noon on Friday, August , at the Peebles Library. We’ll have plenty of popcorn to complete your movie experience. In addition, families can pick up take-home craft kits for every age from Monday, August 1 through Wednesday, August 31 at the Manchester Library. The kits are complete with simple instructions and supplies. Don’t let these events pass you by!

Summer reading is almost over. Don’t forget to stop by the library to pick up your prizes. While you are at it, get ready for the upcoming school season with us. We will have two Backpack Drawings for children and teens ages 18 and under at the Peebles and North Adams Libraries. The program is from Monday, July 29 through Saturday, August 10 at the Peebles Library, and Thursday, August 1 through Tuesday, August 13 at the North Adams Library. You will be given one ticket when you check out a book, limit of one checkout per day. We will have a few backpacks to choose from filled with some school supplies.
