Excitement is brewing in Dogwood as preparations are underway for the filming of an upcoming feature film that will not only showcase the beauty of the horseback riding ranch and local treasure owned by Mike “Frog” Montgomery, but also bear its name. Titled “Dogwood,” this independent feature film promises to enthrall audiences with its gripping tale of heartbreak, desperation and wild west style justice amidst the chaos following the US Civil War.

Ruby Garnet Singleton, a native of West Union, Ohio, is bringing her production company, Digital Films 21st Century (DF21C) and other talented filmmakers and actors, to the charming and historic locations of southern Ohio for this project. The film will feature WWE celebrity and Ohio actor, Al Snow, as the lead antagonist; rising stars Ruby Singleton, Amy Zubieta and LaVeda Davis; director Dianna Renee and other cast and crew from Los Angeles, New York, Virginia, Michigan, Indiana and Pennsylvania, as well as local actors and aspiring student actors from the southern Ohio area.

“We are thrilled to bring the story of ‘Dogwood’ to life against the backdrop of our beloved Dogwood,” said Ruby Garnet Singleton, founder of DF21C. “This film will serve as a testament to our local talent and the rich and captivating scenery of our region, and we are excited to share it with audiences far and wide.”

Filming is set to commence this August, offering local residents the opportunity to witness the magic of filmmaking firsthand and, perhaps, even participate as extras.
