Join us for an incredible adventure at Storytime at the Adams County Public Libraries. Storytime sessions are at 11 a.m. on select days and offer a chance to explore the joys of reading, learning, and creativity. Facilitated by library programmers, children will cultivate early literacy skills, get moving with fun activities and games to enhance gross motor skills, and practice weaving, writing, art, and sensory play to hone fine motor skills. Explore fun themes, including Wild West, Giraffes, and Pirates!
Saddle up for a Wild West Adventure! This Storytime will be on Tuesday, June 25 at the North Adams Library. We will sing Home on the Range, create paper bag stick horses, play a cowboy activity game, and listen to Rand The Rowdy Randy Wild West Show by Casey Rislov. Stretch your neck for our Giraffe and African Savanna-themed Storytime. This experience will be on Thursday, June 27 at the West Union Library. We will sing classic children’s songs, create crafts, explore through sensory play, and listen to engaging stories.
Ahoy mateys! We will have two Pirate Storytime sessions on Wednesday, June 26. At the Peebles Library, we will sing the “Pirate Treasure” song, create a pirate spyglass craft, learn about maps, listen to Eleanor Wyatt Princess and Pirate by Rachael MacFarlane, and go on a treasure hunt in the library. At the Manchester Library, we will sing “Five Little Pirates,” create a pirate toilet paper roll craft, and listen to Pirate Nap by Danna Smith.
We also offer Enrichment Kits to families to continue the learning adveture at home. Each kit contains book recommendations and activity ideas centered around phonics, counting, art, fine and large motor, and life skills. If you can’t make it to Storytime, check out Day By Day Ohio. This resource supports early literacy skills to prepare children for kindergarten. Sing songs to build vocabulary, watch fun and educational videos, explore reading recommendations, and discover the activity calendar for enriching crafts, puzzles, and games. To access this early learning resource, go to adamscolibrary.org, hover over “Resources,” click “Kids Resources,” and click “Day By Day Ohio.” Day By Day Ohio is a service of the State Library of Ohio and is funded in part by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services.
Hey there, families! Check out two upcoming family programs. Get ready to unleash your inner artist at Crafts and Creations from 3 – 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26 at the Manchester Library. We offer a wide range of art supplies to help you get creative and produce your very own masterpieces. What will you create? If you prefer selfies, join us from June 1 through July 31 for our Adventure Selfie Challenge at the Peebles Library. You can use your phone, tablet, or iPad to take selfies at eight locations on the Adventure Selfie Challenge sheet. Show your selfies to the front desk staff to get a prize. Do this challenge with family and friends for twice the fun.
Calling all Bibliophiles! Join us for Book Club at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 27 at North Adams Library as we discuss Appalachian Daughter by Mary Jane Salyers.
