Raymond O. Martin, Jr., age 81 of Hillsboro, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home with family on Friday, June 14, 2024. He was born June 16, 1942 in Scioto County, Ohio to the late Raymond and Rosemary (Rayborn) Martin. He retired as a control room operator at D P & L. He joined the US Army and served his country during the Cold War Era from 1959 – 1962.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Louise Frazier.
Ray is survived by his son, Timothy Martin and wife Melissa of Hillsboro; daughter, Barbara Hardesty and husband Craig of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; former wife Whyoma Martin of West Union, Ohio; eight grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8580 Gallia Pike (County Road 1) Franklin Furnace, Ohio, with military services by the James Dickey American Legion Post 23. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2024 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Meeker Funeral Home in Russellville.
