Join us for an amazing adventure through the enchanting world of Storytime at 11 a.m. on select days at the Adams County Public Libraries. Every Storytime session is an opportunity to delve into the wonders of reading, learning, and imagination. Prepare for an exciting exploration of captivating themes, such as Knight Adventures and Sensory Play.

Knight Adventure Storytime will be on Tuesday, June 18 at the North Adams Library. We will sing Five Brave Nights, create knight headbands, play with a toy castle, and listen to Bizzy Bear Knights’ Castle by Benji Davies. Additionally, Sensory Storytime will be on Thursday, June 20 at the West Union Library. We will sing classic children’s songs, create crafts, explore through sensory play, and listen to engaging stories. Our libraries will be closed on Juneteenth, Wednesday, June 19, therefore, we will not have Storytime at the Manchester and Peebles Libraries.

Our Storytime sessions offer more than just entertainment – they create a platform for children to participate in educational games, interactive storytelling, and creative crafts, all designed to boost early literacy skills. These activities also contribute to the development of fine and gross motor skills, social-emotional learning, and more, laying the foundation for future academic success. Additionally, families can take home Enrichment Kits filled with reading recommendations and activity ideas, allowing the learning journey to continue beyond the library.

We have a new enriching Storytime event for preschoolers and families this summer, as well. Every other Tuesday, preschool children can hone early literacy skills with educators from Shawnee State University in the library. In June and July, we will focus on the theme, “Growing Your Mind.” Each Storytime includes children’s books, rhymes, crafts, and activities. Locations, dates, and times are as follows: Manchester Library:10 a.m. on June 11 and 25 and July 23 – North Adams Library:12:15 p.m. on June 18 and July 2 and 26 – Peebles Library: 10 a.m., on June 18 and July 2 and 26 – West Union Library: 12:15 p.m. on June 11 and 25 and July 23.

Calling all detectives! Join the Edge of Appalachia at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 17 at the Manchester Library and 2 p.m. at the West Union Library as we investigate a mystery of epic proportions. Look at evidence, solve clues and make your predictions as to what the mystery items are. Furthermore, this summer, you can explore agriculture with Jenny Stoneking at our Homestead Series at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18 at the North Adams Library. Discover practical tips for farming thriving fruit trees. These two events are perfect for families. See you in the library!
