Ruby G. Thacker, age 61, of Seaman, Ohio, died Friday, May 17, 2024 at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. Ruby was born January 7, 1963 in Upshur County, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, R.C. and Liz Smith of Harleton Texas; a sister, Marie Cathey of Harleton, Texas; brother, Jr. Smith of Jefferson, Texas; and a special sister-in-law, Rhonda Thacker.
Ruby was united in marriage to her husband, Mark Edward Thacker, Sr., on November 26, 1986. She is survived by her husband after 37 years of marriage. She is survived by son, Ray Smith, son and daughter-in-law, Mark Jr. and Kayla Thacker, all of Seaman; 13 grandchildren (nine boys and four girls); brothers Bill Smith and Tyke Smith of Harleton, Texas; special brother-in-laws Billy Thacker, Harold Thacker, Jim Thacker and Ronnie Thacker; special sister-in-laws Jane Hess, Lynn Cable, Teresa Reed and Tonna Nesbitt; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Ruby was a Juvenile Detention Officer in Marshall, Texas.
The visitation is Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Lafferty Funeral Home in West Union. The funeral is Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Lafferty Funeral Home. Pastor Billy Thacker will officiate.
