Taking a step with Sergeant Mike Estep means walking alongside him as he runs for Adams County Sheriff in March 2024.

Estep’s 36 years in law enforcement and 39 years as a first responder in fire and police departments make him a confident candidate for the job.

Estep is married to wife Renee and has two daughters, a son-in-law, and two granddaughters.

Starting his law enforcement career in Peebles in 1986, Estep came to the Sheriff’s Department the following year. He served as a special deputy, school resource officer, 911 coordinator, and road patrol deputy. He now serves as Road Patrol Sergeant.

“I’ve made a lot of difference at the Sheriff’s office,” said Estep, who is willing to continue being a catalyst of change. Estep believes his background and experience make him a worthwhile choice for voters. His broad scope of experience includes budget management, grant writing, supervisory skills, and car management for the department.

Sergeant Estep is also passionate about guiding the county youth to make better choices. He shares his views on getting a hard line on drugs and crime; he appreciates Sheriff Kimmy Roger’s Boot Camp and will continue the program if elected Sheriff.

Estep credits his ability to “step” into many service roles, making him the person for the job. He describes his work week as full-time for the Sheriff’s Department, doing road work on his day off as an Oliver Trustee Township employee, and serving as a volunteer Fire Chief. He said, “If I can manage to do all these things, I’d be dedicated to the job.”

Many friends and family are assisting Estep with his campaign. Among those helping are Savannah Estep, Samantha Bullock, Jared Bullock, Renee Estep, and Kaylee Vogler. His campaign will be respectful of all candidates. He said, “I’m running because of who I am and what I am. We will work together. We are all in law enforcement, and regardless of who the winner is, we all must work together.”

Estep is proud of his many accomplishments and hopes that he can continue. He said, “It’s not going to be about me. Anybody who wants to help make a difference can. We have to be community strong.”
