Bikers for Christ member, Wayne Edingfield said, “We’re doing a benefit for the homeless shelter today.” The message of the benefit went out to area bikers and everyone who entered paid to ride in the fundraiser on July 8.
Bikers for Christ were just some of the participants in the event as it was open to all willing to ride for the cause. Sign-up was upon arrival. Edingfield said folks were encouraged to bring hygiene items as a donation to the shelter.
Bikers for Christ is a worldwide organization started by a Californian pastor known as Pastor Z. He started the group 33 years ago. Edingfield explained that Adams County has a few nearby chapters. He expected four chapters to be involved in the day’s benefit.
Char Brown, Director of the Adams County Homeless Shelter said, “Sixty-four bikers showed for the event and raised $900.” The rain put a damper on lunch, but the Shelter provided meals for the 25 bikers who returned.
The Shelter currently needs laundry detergent, dish soap, and hygiene products. Please call (937) 544-8164 to schedule a time to drop off donations.
