Father’s Day is right around the corner, and guys – pay attention – we want you to live longer! Celebrate Men’s Health Awareness Week, June 12-20, by focusing on taking care of you!
Statistically, men pay less attention to taking care of health issues than women do. A Harvard study showed that 65% of men avoid going to the doctor for as long as possible. They are likelier to live unhealthy lifestyles by taking risks, smoking, and drinking. Men have a higher risk for serious diseases, including heart disease, cancer, and HIV, and are susceptible to depression, stroke, and diabetes, along with male issues like prostate enlargement and prostate cancer.
Many men’s health risks are prevented by living a healthier lifestyle. Exercise, a healthy diet, stress reduction, not smoking, and drinking only in moderation are all ways to reduce disease.
Early detection is also vital. When a health concern is caught early, it generally increases the chances of successful treatment.
Wearing a blue ribbon this week in lieu of Men’s Health awareness shows your commitment and support for the cause. Take the time and encourage your father, grandfather, brother, partner, son, and male friends to take control and care of their health.
So, fellas, get on board with seeing your doc and living your best life. Protect your health and longevity – celebrate you!
