Remember, our Merry Money 2020 Holiday Reading Program started Monday, Oct. 5. In this program, children, ages 3 to 12, can sign up to read and log books to earn “Merry Money,” which they can use to “buy” gifts from our online Santa Shop for themselves or their friends and family. Each child can earn up to $20, with five picture books or 50 pages of a chapter book equaling $1. All reading logs for Merry Money must be turned in by Friday, Nov, 20, and our Santa Shop will open on Tuesday, Dec. 1 on our website. You can sign up for Merry Money and receive a physical reading log by visiting your local library during their operating hours, or you can sign up online using Beanstack, which you can also access on our website.
Another exciting program we have beginning in October is YA Listeners. In this weekly program, Peebles Library Programmer Sabrena Johnson and Manchester Library Programmer Holly Schumacher will read juvenile and young adult books, targeted toward teens and tweens, ages eight and up. The first book you can listen to is “Dinosaurs Before Dark,” the first book in Mary Pope Osborne’s wildly popular Magic Tree House series. The audio recording of its first few chapters premieres on Friday, Oct. 9 on our Adams County Public Library (Ohio) Facebook page. New recordings will be released every Friday, so be sure to check them out and never miss a single chapter.
Library Resource Spotlight: Check out Hoopla Digital’s Book Club Hub. Each quarter, a new book club pick is spotlighted, complete with discussion guides, author interviews, and recommended similar reads. These titles are always available in both ebook and audiobook format, so there is never any waiting. You can discuss the book among your friends or join the larger conversation by using #hooplabookclub and #discoverreadshare. To access Hoopla’s Book Club Hub, visit the link on our website: adamscolibrary.org.
