Philip Richardson, age 77, of Peebles, Ohio, passed away Thursday afternoon, Aug. 8, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born Feb. 12, 1942 in Stafford, Kansas and grew up in St. John, Kansas, son of the late Leland O. and Mary F. (Bradfoot) Richardson.
Phil became an Eagle Scout in 1958 and an honorary Order of the Arrow. He graduated high school in 1960 and attended the University of Kansas for one year. Phil decided he wanted to serve his country and joined the United States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War from 1962-1966. Upon discharge he went to work for General Electric, where he retired after 34 years of service. In 1965 he married Janet Miller, they were married for 54 years. They moved from California to Peebles, Ohio in 1978, where they spent the rest of their lives together. Phil was a member of the Northside Church of Christ in Hillsboro.
Surviving are his loving wife, Janet Richardson; two daughters, Leah (Dan) Pendergraft of Covington, Ky. and Briana (Christopher) Truesdell of New Market, Alabama; four grandchildren, Philip Copas of Ky., Brandon Truesdell of Ft. Bragg, NC, Adrian Columbia of Cincinnati, and Brittany Holbrook of Lawton, Oklahoma; six great-grandchildren, Hunter, Gwyndolyn, Dallas, Cora, Charlie, and Aeslyn; two brothers, Ronald and Mark Richardson of Kansas; two sisters, Martha Cutright of Kansas and Kathy Richardson of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
In addition to his parents, Phil was preceded in death by his brother, James Richardson, and sister, Nancy Piepmeier.
Services will be held at Edgington Funeral Home, 17 E. Main St. Mowrystown, Ohio, Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019 at 1 p.m. with Minister Guillermo Alvarez officiating. Interment will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery, Locust Grove, Ohio where the Adams County Honor Guard and Wright-Patterson Air Force will conduct full military honors.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the services.
