A year’s worth of bragging rights were on the line on April 30 as the four Adams County high school girls and boys track teams made their way to Peebles High School for the annual Adams County Track meet. The weather cooperated and a large crowd was on hand to watch the host teams take home both team titles, with Peebles outdistancing North Adams on the girls side and West Union on the boys.
“I thought our kids ran great today,” said Peebles track coach Tyler Wilson. “The county has a lot of good track athletes across the board but we were very happy to win it for the boys and the girls. We have some goals set for the year and winning the county meet was definitely one of them. The kids have been working hard day in and day out to move towards their team and individual goals.”
“We’re looking forward to the SHAC Meet this Friday and then the district next week.”
“Jenny Seas is coming off an injury but is looking much better heading into postseason and Lilly Gray has been exceptional in the 400 and 800 all year, so it will be fun to see how it all plays out,” Wilson continued. ”Some of our relay teams are looking promising for both boys and girls. Kyle Lightner for our boys has shown big gains in the 800 this year and that could be a good event for him moving forward. Each team member plays a big role on our team and everyone is doing their part to help our teams get better each day.”
The scoring system used at the county meet awarded points to the top five finishers in each event, with a sliding scale of points-6,4,3,2,and 1.
