The Lafferty Funeral Home has received many accolades recognizing its 170 years of business, including proclamations from former Governor John Kasich and the Ohio Senate.
On Monday, March 18, state representative Brian Baldridge presented the funeral home’s current owner/operator, John R. Lafferty, with yet another proclamation – this one from the Ohio House members.
Part of the proclamation read:”Founded on the highest ideals of professionalism, the Lafferty Funeral Home is the oldest continuously operating funeral home in the state of Ohio, and it has been led by six generations of William Voris Lafferty’s descendants. To their credit, all those who have maintained an unwavering commitment to serving the families of West Union and the surrounding area with dignity and respect in their time of need have set themselves apart with their kindness and professionalism, and it appears certain that this compassionate endeavor will continue for years to come.”
“It’s a great day to honor a business that’s lasted six generations,” Baldridge said. “The Lafferty Funeral home has been here for many of our families through the years, and we’re here to say thank you to all of them.”
The proclamation was signed by Baldridge and house speaker Larry Householder.
“My family is very honored to have our business recognized yet again,” Lafferty said following the presentation. “It’s been a privilege for us to serve our community all these many years.”
