Garrett receives Shawnee Scholar Award

Peebles High School senior Jerilyn Garret has been awarded the Shawnee Scholar Award. The award is presented to eight outstanding students who will receive full tuition for four years. The student must have an ACT score of 30 or higher and a high school grade point average of at least 3.8 on a 4.0 scale to be considered for this prestigious award.
After meeting those qualifications, students had to submit a sample of their best work. The work had to demonstrate the student’s interests, talent, and skill level as an incoming freshman. The submission can be a poem, essay, painting, drawing, or video of a performance or math equation they solved.
Jerilyn will be majoring in Biomedical Sciences and has a strong love for the arts. She created a mixed media piece that combined both of those. She included an artist’s statement, log of hours, and materials used while creating the piece.
