Oneta Dell Gammell Simmons, 97 years of Seaman, passed away Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Adams County Regional Medical Center. Oneta was born August 20, 1920 in Adams County, the daughter of the late Jesse E. and Lulu (McDaniel) Gammell. Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie E. Simmons on October 16, 1962; two brothers, Paul and Frank Gammell. Oneta graduated in 1938 from Seaman High School. Oneta was a Sales Representative and Team Leader for Avon for 45 years. She became a member of the Tranquility United Presbyterian Church on October 29, 1933 and later transferred to the Seaman United Presbyterian Church where she served as a Trustee, Pianist and many other positions in the Church. On July 9, 1938 she was united in marriage to the late Charlie E. Simmons. They were blessed with two daughters, Barbara Simmons Rosselot and husband Richard, Sharon Simmons Carter and husband Tom both of Seaman; five grandsons, Randy (Myra) Rosselot of Winchester, Ron Rosselot of Batavia, Raymond Rosselot of Columbus, OH., David (Darlena) Carter of Amelia, Pastor Tim (Sherri) Carter of West Union; eight great grandchildren, Alex (Ashley) Rosselot, Clayton Rosselot, Erica Rosselot (Jacob) Dismuke, Ashley (Josh) Brock, Emily (Steelley) Peters, Alyssa Carter, Lindsay Carter, Julia Carter; five great great grandchildren, Whitley Rosselot, Audrey Rosselot, Brody Brock, Beaux Peters, Oakleigh Peters; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, Lewis-Sullivan Chapel in Seaman. Pastor Bill Kirby and Pastor Tim Carter will officiate services with burial following in the Tranquility Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
