Dorothy A McFarland Henize, 91 years, of Peebles, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at the Adams County Regional Medical Center, in Seaman, Ohio.

Dorothy was born on February 13, 1927, in Peebles, Ohio, the daughter of Elza Walls and Anna Johnson Walls. She attended the Peebles Church of God, and was involved with the Haphazard Homemakers 4-H Club, as well as the Peebles Quilting Club. Dorothy worked as a case worker for the Adams County Job and Family Services for many years.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles McFarland, who passed away on June 5, 1978; and by her second husband, Charles Henize, who passed away on February 9, 2011. She was also preceded by her infant son, Stevie Joe McFarland, two grandchildren, and two brothers, Archie Walls and Charles Walls. Dorothy is survived by five daughters, Mary Helen Browning, of Peebles; Beverly (John) Beasley, of Peebles; Emma (Ray) Phillips, of Florida; Brenda (Steve) Brown, of Peebles; and Pam (Steve) Fannin, of Florida; and by her two sons, Larry (Linda) McFarland, of Peebles; and Eugene McFarland, of Peebles. Dorothy also leaves behind a sister, Jean Ann Green, of Peebles. She will be sadly missed by her 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 13 great, great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at the Peebles Church of God. The ceremony will be officiated by Harold Keaton and Paul Voss. Burial will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery.

Family and friends may pay their respects Tuesday evening, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, July 24, 2018, at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, in Peebles.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that that memorial contributions be made in Dorothy’s name to the Peebles Church of God.
